UV Invisible Ink
UV invisible ink (also called fluorescent or security ink) remains completely invisible under normal light but glows brightly when exposed to ultraviolet (UV) light. It contains special fluorescent pigments that absorb UV energy and emit visible light – typically blue, green, yellow, or red.
How it works:
The ink contains fluorescent dyes or rare-earth compounds. Under daylight they appear colourless. Under a UV lamp (365nm or 254nm), electrons jump to a higher energy state and instantly release visible photons – creating a glowing effect.
Key applications:
Currency and passports
ID cards and visas
Product authentication
Event wristbands
Brand protection
Children's stamps and games
Advantages:
Covert security – invisible to naked eye
Instant verification with simple UV lamp
Can be combined with visible inks
Multiple colour options for coding
Resistant to photocopying
